Crystal Boarding School staff recently had the opportunity to tour the new school construction site. During the visit, staff explored the newly built staff housing and walked through the new school dormitory, which is steadily progressing toward completion.

This project represents an exciting new chapter for one of the Navajo Nation’s historic schools. Originally established in the 1930s, Crystal Boarding School has served generations of students and families in the communities of Crystal, Navajo, and Sawmill. The new facilities will support students in a safe, modern learning environment while honoring the school’s strong cultural roots.

Construction remains on track, with the full replacement school expected to be finished in late 2027 or early 2028. Staff and community members are looking forward to the improvements and the opportunities these enhanced spaces will bring.
